Tunaville Green Proud Victors

Tunaville Green 2 - MediumTown United 1

A sterling performance from Tunaville Green in the annual New Year fixture against neighbours MeduimTown United proved a fitting climax to the 1899 NorthWestSouth Conference league campaign.

A buoyant squad led by stalwart captain, Don Donny Donaldson relished the opportunity to reek revenge on an over confident MeduimTown United side that had sneaked a win after sharing 7 goals earlier in the season.

In front of a capacity crowd of 240 people, Green played with a style usually associated with such semi-professional organisations as Accrington Stanley and Leicester Fosse. Their deft touch and pace continuously outclassed a poor MediumTown side and on many an occasion players such as midfield general Reg 'Long Shorts' Horsley were able to demonstrate such footballing skills previously unseen at Tunaville Park.

"I'm most pleased with my lads" quoted manager Alf Sidebottom after the game. "Their silky skills were a delight for everyone to watch and we certainly managed to put one over on those MediumTown chappies as a result. They were trousers and no mistake"
Green Goalkeeper Arthur 'Halfday Closing' Slaughter was also complimentary of his teammates as well as having some words of commiseration for the losers.
"I though we played extremely well. Hard cheese MediumTown. Better luck next time.
