. . at least until the novelty wears off!

The Race is On

At last Julie Dodd has some competition in the race to be elected Mayor of Tunaville. For sometime now it was looking like no opposition was forthcoming but the untimely cessation of the sewage works project has had a silver lining in throwing local stalwart Omis Walsh into the fray.

Known for his outright opinions on a number of issues the stage is seemingly set for a battle to the wire although the gazette suspects that there may be further candidates ready to enter the contest.

Either way, we can be sure that Tunaville's interests will be best served by whoever takes over the post from it's present incumbent who let's be honest has certainly put his personal affairs ahead of those of the community during his tenure in power.

Backscratching?

Just exactly how did Vik's Café get its license to serve alcohol? It's a well known fact that he Rose and Crown had to wait months to get it's extended permit for last years beer festival yet the newest hostelry in town seemingly only had to wait for days for the bureaucrats at BigTown Urban Council to issue the necessary paperwork.

Were there any backhanders the Gazette asks or maybe it involved some hand-iwork of another kind?
