| Donny |
and what a great track that is, one from the 'New
Radicals' there and you're listening to 'thru the night with Donny' and with
the time coming up to 10 minutes past the hour of midnight here on Tunaville
FM, I'm joined in the studio by local Bookshop owner Dave Dodd, who has made
his selection for 'Six of the Best'. Good evening Dave and welcome to the
show.
|
| Dave |
Good evening, it's a real pleasure to be here. My wife and I are
big fans Donny.
|
| Donny |
Well thanks Dave and lets get straight into your first choice. A
slightly strange one, any reason why you've gone for 'Teddy Bear' by Elvis.
|
| Dave |
Well simply put, the man was the 'King' Donny. In my youth
we used to attend the local dance and me and my pals would slick our hair back,
boot lace ties, the lot.
|
| Donny |
.... um.. very interesting Dave. It takes all sorts I suppose. Anyway
here's Elvis for you...
|
| Music |
"Baby let me be etc ..."
|
| Donny |
Fortunately quite a short track. Anyway how's business down at the
bookshop Dave ?
|
| Dave |
Well not so great to be honest. Not selling as many as in previous
years. In fact I am facing something of a financial crisis.
|
| Donny |
Well perhaps if you stocked the odd Jackie Collins or Harold
Robbins maybe things would improve ?
|
| Dave |
No I refuse to lower my standards. People should be satisfied with
reading the classics... Dickens, Hemmingway, Elliot and the like.
|
| Donny |
I think you're missing the point Dave, but on with your second
selection .... one from' B.Tribe'. A good choice if I may say so.
|
| Dave |
Thanks and I would like to play this one for my wife if I may Donny
?
|
| Donny |
Sure thing Dave .. you've got it... for a very special lady .. this
one's for you ..
|
| Donny |
Good choice and a track that was my 'record of the week' a couple
of months back. So how bad is the financial situation Dave ?
|
| Dave |
Pretty horrendous. I am strapped with the 'Old Barn' and business is
hardly booming and I've got that geezer McKinney, at the bank on my back....
You see...
|
| Donny |
Sorry to interrupt you there Dave, not that I'm not interested,
but we must take a commercial break.
|
| Music |
"Toast, a little bit of toast,
brown bread, white bread, a little bit of wholemeal bread,
Toast.."
|
| Voiceover |
"That's right folks, at Mitchell's bakery we sell the lot and
more besides, not only brown, white and wholemeal, but walnut, French,
wholegrain, and granary. For all your baking needs pop into Mitchell's.. friendly service with a friendly smile."
|
| Voiceover |
"Aslett's Motors - Big discounts this weekend on all used cars. We've got em and we want to clear em... with 1 year warranty thrown in. Remember Aslett's motors .. 'nice people to do business with'." (copyright surely? Ed.)

| Donny |
Welcome back folks and we're talking to Dave Dodd.. How's
the video shop going and specifically how do you respond to the criticism that
you do not stock enough Adult titles ?
|
| Dave |
Well I understand that if people want Adult films there is another
source in the village and without dropping anyone in it,
they are readily available after the 10.00 A.M. morning service at the church.
As for me, I like to think people prefer to watch the classics.....
|
| Donny |
..um... Ok Dave I am beginning to see why the shop is struggling.
Anyway your third choice is one by Morcheeba..
|
| Dave |
Yes we heard you playing it on your show. That's one of the reasons
we tune in every night, you're such a 'ground-breaking' disc jockey....
