OLD TUNAVILLIANS HELD IN DOUR AFFAIR

O.T.R.F.C. 0 - BIGTOWN IRISH 0

What a drab game this proved to be, though it has to be said that the scoreline reflected the magnificent defence of both sides. It seemed that there was no way through for either team and be rest-assured they both tried every which way.

Tunaville tried to force a score through using their big forwards, Rev. Mullins, Mullin, Tinker and Slaughter,by punching through the middle, though unfortunately to no avail. They tried spinning it wide through the hands of their speedy backs, most notably Horsley and Mitchell, but again the Bigtown Irish defence held firm.

They even tried to exert pressure by using the 'Garryowen' and on one occasion were inches short of the line when Walsh and Lucas, collected the ball from a fumbled catch from the opposition fullback and drove in excellent body position but were just held up.

It was just not going to be and Tunaville could have tried all afternoon and night for that matter. The elusive score just would not come their way. Finally their frustration got the better of them and some unsavoury scenes towards the end of the match, first involving Walker and then with Aslett joining in, were best forgotten.

Old Tunavillians, will wish to restore their discipline for next week's visit of Bigtown Scottish.
