The Tunaville Gazette has received a 'notice to desist' specifically relating to recent articles published concerning the financial status of one of Tunaville's more prominent residents. In line with the Gazette's straightforward policy of 'everyone gets a fair hearing no matter how tall they are', we hereby publish the notice in full below.
9th October 1999 To the TunaVille Gazette. Notice to Cease and Desist We act on behalf of Dodd’s Book Emporium. It has been brought to our attention that you have recently published several scurrilous references to the solvency of our client. This is to stop with effect from the serving of this notice. My client has asked me to point out that there is absolutely no truth whatsoever in these rumours. He does not know the source of the stories but feels that these untruths are being deliberately sown by a local businessman with views to expanding his own business interests and who perhaps might have designs on the very desirable property currently owned by Mr. Dodd. Mr. Dodd is currently holidaying in Pentonville, London which we believe is twinned with Nashville, Tennessee and will make a public statement upon his return.
Yours Faithfully, The Gazette responds catagorically by stating that at no time has it prompted any of the articles, opinions etc. that have been subsequently been published. The Tunaville Gazette has always and will always follow a policy of 'reporting ALL the news, no matter how credible it might be' and in this particular instance we positively encourage Mr. Dodd to set the record straight through the pages of the Gazette.
