TUNAVILLE TAKE BIGTOWN TO THE CLEANERS IN ANNUAL CRICKET FIESTA
|
In what ended up as a very one sided affair, Tunaville trounced Bigtown last Friday in the Annual Invitational Cricket match proudly sponsored by the National Bank of Tunaville. Led by Neil "Swing that Willow" Donaldson, Tunaville took command of what was widely anticipated to be a close match, form the very first over. Asked to bat, Tunaville strode out through the forceful masterful strokes of Tinker and Barratt, ably supported by Shuttleworth, Lucas and Lenehan. Even the non appearance of the much anticipated 'bloke' failed to dampen the sprits of the Tunaville faithful and the late arrival of replacement "chrisagarsmate" proved adequate to ensuring a strong target was set by the home side. Throughout a long and somewhat heavy lunch the talk was undoubtedly of whether BigTown could respond to such a lofty target. Within 3 balls however, it was apparent that the day was going to belong to Tunaville. Sloppy bat placement from the BigTown opening strike force led to some early wickets and before long victory had been sensed by everyone from the Tea Lady to departing Bigtown Captain Allen. There is no doubt that on this particular sunny Friday in November, fortune favoured the brave and Tunavilles outrageous batting skills dominated a game that many will remember for a good time to come.
